Quiet Apprehension
Also with the tablet. One of these days I should get to work on actually finishing some of the sketches I like in this blog.

Seige
What I was going for here, and it didn't come out right, was a ruined city on a desolate landscape with a boat on dry land. Didn't come out--perhaps I should just write rather than sketch?

Whoops again
Not really my fault this time--I didn't have access to my office/guest bedroom.
I cleverly title this "Knight with a Gun"
I like my Roman soldier with a gun better.

Reflections
A colleague has a foam stress ball shaped like a submarine. I picked it up and realized that if the company who makes it wanted to, they could easily flip it upside-down and say it's a blimp. So here we are:

Drawn with a Parker Sonnet fountain pen and Private Reserve Ink's "Sonic Blue" -- just for a change of pace

Impostor
Inspired by a conversation on woot about the preferred spelling of "impostor/imposter," I decided to draw up an anatomically correct version for the alternate spelling of the controversial "Imposter." My guess is this has probably been done before, but I'm just too lazy to search.:
I told myself I was above this, but I'm really not. And now that I look at it, that rabbit could really use some work!

The Lonely Island
Don't feel too bad for him though. He's lonely because he's an asshole.
I did this one with a Copic brush pen.

Whoops!
Well, I didn't post it yesterday, but I did, draw it yesterday -- so in my book that counts!
This one's doing a lot better than that other robot one. My robots are hit or miss, and I'm sure they're starting to piss people off.

The Fisherman
Went back to the sketchbook for this one. Though I had to work on a small one--I would have liked to have the scene continued at the bottom, with the water pouring out of the net into a lake or something to that effect.

Balloon City
You'd think a city floating amongst the clouds, suspended by a single balloon, would have enough sense to not have spires on so many buildings.
To each their own I suppose.
Used the tablet on this one too, and I'm not entirely sure if I'm getting anywhere.

Daedalus
I don't have the energy to complete another entry for this derby. And I don't have the clout to get any votes for an entry submitted after Friday.
But I did sketch out how my Daedalus/Icarus design was going to be laid out--the two figures in the foreground with a classical labyrinth pattern in the background. This was on the tablet.

Labyrinths
This week's shirt.woot derby theme is Mazes and Labyrinths.
The entry I've put together so far features the wooden box game Labyrinth and the unfortunate consequences of falling down a hole.
I also hope to draw up a nice Daedalus design, but work will definitely get in the way of subbing that anytime before late Friday.

Prussian Memories
Whether it's done well or not, I really liked the idea behind my Woot entry "Eternal Respects," where a spirit revisits its armor--or longs for its glory days.
Here's another sketch, with a much more alive subject simply remembering the past.
I went with pencil rather than tablet on this one, because I really wanted to do a better job on it :). Though the smoke definitely could use some work, and I originally intended to have much much more of the body in the picture, I think it's a good start.
EDIT:
Wow. I hate you Threadless

Oak Embryo
Just trying something different. Again using the tablet. Rough sketch of an idea I once had while watching my wife play Pikmin :).

Cheating Already
OK, so I'm not sure if the idea has to be new or not for this challenge--either way, I'm working on a redo of an old design--"The Abyss," which I submitted in the shirt.woot Phobias derby.
Here's the original:
And here's a concept sketch to experiment with a new perspective:
This is really just me trying to get used to a tablet, and I can't say for sure if I'll ever go COMPLETELY tablet--I'm not even sure if anyone does.

Make Something Cool Everyday
A year ago, AdderXYU challenged artists in the shirt.woot forums to make something cool everyday. Or at least make SOMETHING (at least that's my interpretation). Lots of artists created sketchblogs, and that's the path I'll be following. I'm not sure how much finished work I'll actually be putting up, it's more just a look into my own personal design process--a process I can't really define since I'm just starting to explore new tools like Adobe Illustrator and Wacom tablets.
So lets see how it goes--I'd love to be able to have a year's worth of posts come January 3, 2012!
